Websites at ATSU are managed using a variety of tools (sometimes called Content Management Systems or CMS). The website management process is divided by internal and public-facing content. Internal content is facilitated and managed by ITS. Public-facing content is facilitated and managed by Communication & Marketing along with support from external vendors and ITS. Here is a list of the common tools we use.
- ExpressionEngine – This is the primary CMS used by Communication & Marketing for the ATSU public website. Questions can be directed to Communication & Marketing (communications@atsu.edu).
- Google Sites – This tool is used by many ATSU faculty & staff, primarily to create websites for an internal audience. While creating public websites is possible with Google Sites, please consult Communication & Marketing (communications@atsu.edu) before creating a public website with Google Sites. Learn more here.
- LibGuides – This tool is similar to Google Sites and is used by faculty & staff for creating websites that are only accessible to internal audiences. LibGuides also has the capability to create public facing content, but as with Google Sites, please consult Communication & Marketing (communications@atsu.edu) prior to creating a public website. The ATSU Library manages and supports LibGuides.
- WordPress – This tool is not widely used, but is being deployed for both internal and public content when specific requirements are needed, such as blogging, ecommerce and/or event scheduling and calendar functionality. If you believe WordPress is the right tool for your website project, get in touch with ATSU-ITS for internal content, and Communication & Marketing (communications@atsu.edu) for public content.
For new ATSU websites and ATSU website redesigns, Communication & Marketing and/or ITS will consult with you and your team, and recommend a tool for your website project.
