Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Add a Harmonize Discussion to Your Canvas Course
- Navigate to your Canvas course.
- Click on Assignments in the course navigation.
- Select + Assignment to create a new assignment.
- Enter a title and description for the assignment.
- Under Submission Type, choose External Tool.
- Click Find, then select Harmonize Discussion from the list.
- Click Select and then Save or Save & Publish.
Step 2: Enable Peer Review in Harmonize
- After saving the assignment, click on the Harmonize link to open the Harmonize setup interface.
- In the Harmonize editor, scroll down to the Peer Review section.
- Toggle the Enable Peer Review switch to On.
Step 3: Configure Peer Review Settings
- Number of Reviews: Set how many peer submissions each student should review.
- Review Start Date: Choose when students can begin reviewing peers.
- Review End Date: Set the deadline for completing peer reviews.
- Anonymous Reviews (optional): Enable if you want reviews to be anonymous.
- Review Criteria: Add specific prompts or rubrics to guide student feedback.
Step 4: Finalize and Publish
- Review all settings and make any necessary adjustments.
- Click Save to finalize the Harmonize assignment.
- Return to Canvas and Publish the assignment to make it available to students.

- Communicate Expectations: Let students know how many reviews they need to complete and what quality feedback looks like.
- Use Rubrics: Providing clear criteria helps students give meaningful and consistent feedback.
- Monitor Participation: Use Harmonize’s analytics to track student engagement and review completion.
