Minimum Technology Specifications for 2016-2017

You are required to own a laptop computer for your coursework.  Although we don’t have specific requirements as to model and brand of computer, ATSU is authorized to repair Lenovos. Below are the minimum specifications for computers. Please note these are minimum specs, not recommended specs and that you can use either the Windows or Mac platform.  Any reputable business that sells computers can advise you on these specifications.

Computers

Windows computers

  • i5 Processor or better
  • 8GB RAM
  • 802 .11 b/g, or n preferred (This is wireless protocol and is used to connect to the ATSU wireless network)
  • Windows OS (Operating System) 7 or newer
  • Microsoft Office 2010 or newer, or
    • You can request Office 365 from the Service Desk at no charge.  Your account will be disabled upon graduation and you will need to purchase a personal account at that time if you want to retain your data.
    • The suite of applications you receive with your Google Apps account contains not only your Gmail but Google Docs and Google sheets, which can be used for a replacement of Microsoft Office.

Mac Computers

  • Microsoft Office 2016 or
