Minimum Technology Specifications for 2018-2019

You are required to own a laptop computer for your coursework by July 10, 2018 (first day of orientation). Although ATSU doesn’t require any specific model or brand of computer, below are the minimum specifications you will need. Please note these are minimum specs, not recommended specs and that you can use either the Windows or Mac platform.  Any reputable business that sells computers can advise you on these specifications.

Computers

For students using financial assistance, the financial aid budget provides $1000 toward the purchase of a laptop. You will not receive these funds until matriculation.

Windows computers

  • i5 Processor or better
  • 8GB RAM
  • Wireless – Dual-Band capable (Supporting 2.4GHz and 5GHz, 802 .11 ac preferred. (This is the wireless protocol used to connect to the ATSU wireless network)
  • 11 inch screen
  • Windows OS (Operating System) 10 or newer
  • Anit-virus software such as Avira
  • Microsoft Office 2016 or newer, or
    • During orientation, you will be able to request Office 365 from the Service Desk at no charge.  NOTE:  Your Office 365 account will be disabled upon graduation and you will need to purchase a personal account at that time, if you want to retain your data.
    • The suite of applications you receive with your GSuite for Education account contains Google Docs, Google sheets, and similar applications which can be used as a replacement for Microsoft Office.

Mac computers

  • i5 Processor or better (Intel-based Processor)
  • 8GB of RAM

  • Anti-virus software such as Avira
